Butt...

Now I know that my opinions on the 'speedo vs LZR racer in international competition' expressed in last week's blog are sound. I even have the pics to back it up but this is a pretty good argument from opposing council.

Going green never looked this good

So, Jill Grogor's Go Green Art/Fashion show went really well. I got to wear a stunning Prada coat from Callaghan and managed to keep upright in the face of the dried leaves that were scattered all over the floor. My fellow celeb models were Jennifer Su, Loui Fish and Christina Storm who all looked absolutely stunning in fashion from Hyde Park, especially Loui who needs to share her diet secrets with me.

There was also a really cool art auction to raise funds for Food and Trees for Africa. 10 established and upcoming  artists donated work, of which 7 were sold, raising R131000 so far. Legacy also donated an all expenses paid holiday at their new Eco lodge in Madagascar worth R70 000 to the highest art bidder. This little bit of deliciousness went to my awesome friend, actress Catriona Andrew.

The take home treat that makes any function worth while is the goodie bag and this one did not disappoint. Thank you Lindt, Clarins, Mischa Estate wine, Dossier magazine and Glaceau Vitamin Water!

Say it with me: Let's bring back the speedo!

Now before all you fashionistas and normal peeps decide to have me swiftly removed from cyberspace and placed on some 'what were you thinking' hit list, I am not talking about reinstating the 'speedo cool' factor for flabby men on the beach in summer that like to flaunt a pasty white paunch!

I am in fact talking international swimming competitions. It has been a controversial topic for a while now. The argument against these new LZR racers being that they are performance enhancing (for those of you who don't follow sport at all, you can liken it to a girl in a push up bra in a bar - it gives an edge over the competition)

This argument doesn't sway me one way or another. My issue is this: I find the goggles and cap detracting enough, now these men are wearing unitards. I may as well watch seals swim up and down the lanes.

Bring back the speedo, and the abs and pecks that are displayed with them.

Model Mishaps

The only comprehensive thought that I am capable of having before I walk down the runway in front of a crowd of judgemental fashionistas:

‘Please don’t fall, please don’t fall, and please don’t fall’

It worked last time and I strutted down the catwalk without incident and actually ended up doing a pretty good impersonation of an actual model. I was about a foot on the short side, but if age is just a number, how important can height be right?

Now I have once again been asked to take to the runway at Hyde Park and the chanting has already begun in the back of my mind.

My friend Gregg knows this.  So, being the sadistic little bastard that he is, he sent me ‘The 13 best runway falls of all time’. I watched them. I laughed. And now I am karmically screwed.

Thanks Gregg.

This one was my favorite and at the risk of increasing my Karmic problems, I just had to share it with you…

Keeping up with the Kardashians

Last week saw South Africa abuzz with the news that the kardashians were in Joburg along with Reggie bush and Ray Crockett. They were in town for Russell Simmons' Diamond Empowerment Fund - a fabulous charity that funds Africa's first free University, Cida City Campus as well as the Maharishi institute.

On Thursday I had a little dinner party at mine to thank them all for coming and to let some more peeps in on what great work this charity is doing. Had some really cool friends over that night including Noni Gasa, my dear friend Rosie Motene, sporting hunks Ryk Neethling and Ryan Botha.

Nicola Breytenbach was sorely missed, but she was a little busy in New York, what with having a baby and all. We'll excuse her just this once! Congrats to you and your hubby.
